In 2008 after the housing market crashed, we built our first new 'cookie-cutter' home with a big company, lots of contractors and sub-contractors, HOA rules and regulations, and a box of selections to choose from. It was a fine experience but we knew the house could be so much more than what was offered. After going through the process, we learned so much about home building and set out a goal of 5 years to do it all over again, but this time BY OURSELVES! 

Five years later, we sold that house, bought 8.8 acres in the beautiful Rocky Mountains and started designing our next home. Everything from hand drawn blueprints and site plans to permitting and inspections, all the way through the final Certificate of Occupancy, we made this dream a reality! 

Not everyone is up for the challenge of building your own home, but for us, we wanted something that we could be proud of and also make SWEAT EQUITY instantly when it was all done. In 9 short months, we put in the hard work, the blood, sweat and tears, and came out with almost DOUBLE THE EQUITY than we put in financially! Needless to say, we felt like we made it! We finally made the sweat equity we wanted and now it's our job to help other people who want to own a home, learn how to do it yourself and save thousands, or hundreds of thousands along the way~!
